The Family Webb
An Audio Drama by Matt Merrill
The Family Webb is a fictional audio drama series to be released in podcast format. We are currently casting for the first episode which will be produced and promoted in an attempt to fund the remaining five episodes.
Roles
ALLEN WEBB (60s)
The patriarch. Timid and soft-spoken.

MOLLY WEBB (60s)
The matriarch. Animated and outspoken.
​
TERRENCE WEBB (30s)
The oldest son. A bit of a snob.
​
WALTER WEBB (30s)
The middle child. Struggling with depression and alcoholism. Quiet and brooding.

​VALERIE WEBB (30s)
Oldest daughter. Hard-headed and defensive.
​
SOPHIA WEBB TAYLOR (20s)
Youngest daughter. People-pleaser, but stretched thin.

PEMA CHETSANG WEBB (30s)
Terrence's wife. Calming presence. Speaks with an accent. (Preferably an Asian, African, or European accent. Name can change based on the accent.)

BRIAN TAYLOR (30s)
Sophia's husband. Dry and abrasive.
To Audition...
Auditions should be recorded as audio files and submitted through email. Please include one take of each sample scene for the character you’d like to audition for. Your demographic does not need to match that of the character’s, so long as it sounds believable. Please ask a friend or family member to read the parts of the other characters in the scene. You may audition for as many roles as you like.

Commitment
Production will involve 1-2 table read rehearsals, 1 test scene recording, 2-3 days of production, and 1-2 rounds of pickups as needed. Production is targeted to take place during April and May of 2024 in Tri-Cities, Washington. We will work around the schedules and availability of the actors to determine exact days and times.

This first episode is a "no-budget" production, with the goal of securing funding for 5 additional episodes in which we'd be able to pay our actors and crew for their involvement. Food and snacks will be provided during rehearsals and production.
The Story
The family Webb, as a series, contains a non-linear selection of stories from different family member's points of view. The first six stories revolve around the middle-child, Walter, his personal struggles, and how they effect the rest of his family.

In the first episode, the Webb family is getting together for Thanksgiving. We experience scattered scenes from throughout the day as the family members attempt to get along and enjoy their holiday, but the personalities, opinions, and the wants of each family member inevitably clash. In the mix of it all, Walter, comes to realize the burden he has become to his family.
